Another Award and Still Pinching Ourselves

We’ve just had some brilliant news and we are still grinning. The Cornish Scone Company has been named Best Cornish Cream Tea Specialist Artisan Bakery 2025 in this year’s Southern Enterprise Awards.

It is a huge honour and we are honestly blown away. These awards mean a lot to us because the Southern Enterprise was the first award we ever won. That was back in 2020 during the middle of the Covid crisis, when things felt uncertain for everyone. Winning that first award gave us a boost we never forgot.

Fast forward to today and we are celebrating our sixth Southern Enterprise Award in a row. That brings our total awards count to thirty six!

Still Feels a Bit Unreal

When we started, our goal was simple. Bake the best scones we possibly could. Put together proper Cornish cream teas that people would love. And send a bit of happiness through the post. We never expected awards to come out of it.

Every single one has been a surprise. We have never gone looking for recognition, but it is always a lovely feeling when someone notices the care and effort that goes into what we do. It is not just about the scones. It is the full experience. The handmade touch. The quality ingredients. The sense of tradition. 

Even now, after six years of being recognised, we still get that little buzz when we see our name listed.

The Journey So Far

The very first award in 2020 was a turning point. We had just started sending out cream tea hampers to help people feel connected through lockdown. The response from customers was overwhelming and emotional. Families who could not see each other were sending scones and smiles instead.

Since then, things have grown in ways we could never have imagined. We have expanded our range, refined our packaging, and added even more delicious extras. But the heart of the business has stayed the same. We are a small team with a big love for what we do. And we are still baking with the same care as we did on day one.

What Awards Mean to Us

They are not about showing off. They are a reminder that small businesses can make a big difference. That doing things properly, with heart, with pride, and with a bit of fun along the way, actually matters.

This newest award feels especially sweet. Being named Best Cornish Cream Tea Specialist Artisan Bakery is something we never would have dreamed of saying out loud a few years ago. But here we are. And we could not have done it without our amazing customers, many of whom have been with us since the very start.

Whether you have ordered once or a dozen times, whether you sent a hamper to a friend or treated yourself on a quiet weekend, you have helped us grow this little bakery into something bigger than we imagined.

So, What’s Next?

We are always working on something behind the scenes. The kitchen is never quiet for long. Our Christmas range has just gone live a little earlier than planned, with orders already coming in for festive deliveries, we thought it was the perfect time to bring it forward. And that’s just the beginning… we have a few surprises lined up to make the season even more special.

At the same time, we’re taking a moment to soak in this latest bit of news. Another award. Another reason to keep doing what we love. And hopefully, another reason for you to celebrate with a scone or two.
